PTAR de Atotonilco

Supervision of the works of the WWTP of Atotonilco
Atotonilco, Mexico

This plant purifies large part of the wastewater generated in Mexico City. It is the largest treatment plant in the world with an average capacity of 35 m3 / s that can reach up to a maximum of 50 m3 / s, ten times more than any of the great Spanish purification.

The plant will process 3.6 tons of daily waste, 60 percent of what generates the metropolitan area of Mexico City. The treated water is reused for irrigation and waste (sludge) for the production of bio-fuels.
